The Mann Center for the Performing Arts will host its annual Black History Month celebration at the African American Museum in Philadelphia on Monday, February 27.
This year, Dr. Booker has been selected as one of three very special honorees at the event who have significantly contributed to the African American community in Philadelphia. Other honorees for 2017 include Justin Faulkner, Grammy-nominated member of the Branford Marsalis Quartet and Marian B. Tasco former Philadelphia City Council member who served seven terms, retiring in 2016.
At this event, the Mann Center anticipates announcing its 2017 Community Engagement Festival Programming. In 2016, GLA was a part of the Mann’s Firebird: Spirit Rising Festival which aimed to expand the creative boundaries of educational programming and community engagement through an unprecedented series of artistic initiatives developed in partnership with leading academic, civic and arts institutions.
