Language for Learning, SRA Reading Mastery Signature and Plus Editions and Corrective Reading are the reading programs designed to improve the reading ability of our children. These programs support the implementation and evaluation of research-based reading interventions for struggling readers and have proven results of success.
The goals of the Reading Program are to assist students as we:
Raise student achievement by improving the literacy skills of struggling adolescent readers. Help build a strong, scientific research base around specific strategies that improve adolescent literacy skills. Build and improve on the fundamental, reasoning, thinking and language abilities needed for academic success
Our Upper school students utilize Glencoe's Literature Program entitled "Reading with a Purpose." Students who are below grade level will also use the corrective reading program with the assistance of grade level Instructional Assistants. All students in grades 6-8 will use the Writers Workshop Program daily to improve their writing skills.
Imagine It! Completely addresses the five key areas of Reading. Your students wil begin instruction in these keys areas as early as Pre-Kindergarten so they understand not just how to read and write, but the meaning and purpose of what they are learning: Phonemic Awareness, systematic and explicit phonics, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension.
