At-Home Learning with GLA

To GLA Parents and Families,
We officially received notice that all Philadelphia public schools will be closed beginning Monday, March 16th, through Friday, March 27th. As we continue to navigate through these unprecedented times, the health and wellbeing of our scholars, staff, and school community is paramount. We are equally committed to ensuring that our scholars do not fall behind academically.
We recognize that our families have varied access to technology and internet. Therefore, we have put together instructional learning plans that are primarily paper-based, allowing all GLA children to have access to grade-level instruction and content. Beginning on Monday, March 16th, GLA West's At-Home Learning Assignments will be placed on the GLA website. Parents who do not have access to a printer to print their at-home learning packets will have the option to pick packets up from the school between 9am and 7pm on Monday, March 16th (When coming to pick up packets, please enter and exit through the Community Room side entrance).
At-Home Learning Assignments will include the following components:
  • Cover page with daily assignment checklist of 14 days of work

  • IReady log

  • IRLA/Reading Logs

  • Math I-Ready Lessons/ Assignments

  • Reading I-Ready Lessons/Assignments

  • PSSA Review

  • Global Studies and/or Science project- based assignments

  • Cultural Arts Projects/ Assignments based upon your child's current class (Art, Music, Gym/Health, French, Dance, School in the Cloud)

  • Special Services scholars will receive supplemental, differentiated packets and service hours will be provided electronically

Our staff and teachers are committed to supporting home-learning as best as possible. All teachers will be available to host office hours Mondays - Fridays between 2pm and 4pm. During this time, we encourage you to reach out to your child's teacher via Remind/Blooms if you or your child need support with their at-home learning work.
These unprecedented times bring attention to the most in-need families in our school. Recognizing that children not having access to breakfast and lunch in school poses a major challenge for some families, we are working to provide options and resources for families. If your family is in need of support, please contact our Parent Coordinator, Mrs. Askew, at
We thank you for your continued support and will keep you all posted as information becomes available.
Be safe, be encouraged, and be well!
