Using your My Preferred Learning Style packet, select one sentence from each page (1-6); write the original sentence and then write the paraphrased version. Make sure to identify the original and/or the paraphrased version. You should have a total of six paraphrased sentences when you are finished. Devise five formal requests for a letter of recommendation. Make sure you include the following: date, salutation/greeting, what you are requesting and why, a minimum of three reasons why you believe they should honor your request, date you need the letter of recommendation by should they honor your request, closing, your signature. These letters should look like a formal letter using the block writing style. You can type this assignment and email it to pminor@glacharter.org or handwrite each letter. Due tomorrow, May 27, 2015

Scholars share in writing 10 learning style tips and how they will specifically use five tips in class and five different tips that they will use at home to complete homework/projects and study for assessments. Due tomorrow, Tuesday, 3/31/15

Examples: Because Ms. Minor is a visual learner, when I go to a concert I purchase tickets close to the front to avoid distractions.

As a visual learner, Ms. Minor writes down driving instructions, if she expects to remember them, so she doesn’t get lost.

7B Preferred Learning Style Appetizing Essay

Using your Preferred Learning Style packet and your classwork/homework answers to the 12 questions you completed on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 to answer the following questions.

  1. How does your brain prefer to learn?
  2. List 10 of your preferred learning style tips
  3. Share seven learning style tips and specifically how you will use them in class and at home to merit academic success.

Next:

  • Review the parts of an appetizing essay: creative title, introduction, body, conclusion
  • Use the information you gathered about your preferred learning style and your learning style tips to devise an appetizing essay. It can be an informative essay or a persuasive essay. Remember to answer the WHAT, the WHY, the WHO, the WHERE, and the HOW. In doing so, you should have an appetizing essay. Let the information below guide your writing.
  • What are you going to write about? What is so important about this topic? What are the benefits? What can you do to benefit from this writing?
  • Why are you writing about this topic?
  • Who is your audience? Who would benefit from your writing?
  • Where can you go to obtain more information about this topic?

  • Before turning in your assignment, read the entire essay aloud to detect any mistakes that need to be addressed. Then, after making the corrections, reread to check once more for mistakes.

7B Skill Building - Professional Portfolio Cover

Complete devising/creating cover for professional portfolio. Make sure it meets all of the following requirements:
         Your first and last name (should be the largest text on your cover)
         A  minimum of three words that personify you (suggestion: GLA jewels)
        Should be tastefully colorful
        Should look professional (like an expert designed it)
        Optional - a recent and appropriate color picture (within the past 10 months) No selfies, baby or elementary pictures.
         Due Monday, March 23, 2015 (email to Ms. P. Minor at pminor@glacharter.org, if you need for me to print it for you.

Scholar will generate seven questions from their "My Preferred Learning Style Packet". Scholars will use their packet to answer the questions including the page and paragraph numbers where they found their answers. Due tomorrow, Tuesday, march 24, 2015.

Five Formal Requests for Letters of Recommendation are due tomorrow, Friday, March 13, 2015 and will count as an assessment grade.
Scholars who did not receive a pleasing grade on their Expectations pop quiz and formal requests for a letter of recommendation pop quiz should have them signed by a parent and returned by tomorrow, Friday, March 13, 2015.
